The best early learning experience

At Shiny Time, our goal is to provide a high quality early childhood program within a safe and nurturing environment, allowing children to develop independence, confidence, and a positive sense of themselves and the world around them.

We believe that high quality, developmentally appropriate child care should be available to all children and their families and should be applied to the four components of early childhood growth: curriculum, adult-child interactions, relations between the home and the daycare, and developmental evaluation of the children. We believe children learn through play and a good program will provide opportunities for all levels of development and types of play.

Social Needs

Shiny Time children interact with other kids and the staff; they learn to function as a group member and learn appropriate social behavior through self-directed activities in the daycare.

Physical Needs

Shiny Time ensures the child has the opportunity for adequate nutrition and rest as required. The daycare provides a healthy and safe environment through extensive and observant supervision to ensure safe play. We follow the New York State Health Regulations for Day Cares.

Intellectual Needs

Shiny Time children are given the opportunity to explore, observe, to know and understand objects and events in their environment. They are given every opportunity to develop language skills, both in the use of words and in the skill of listening. These are integrated with the development of social, intellectual, creative, and emotional skills.

Creative Needs

Shiny Time children are given the opportunity for creative expression, creative problem solving, invention, discovery, and experimentation in creative areas such as water, art, science, discovery, and manipulative toys.

Emotional Needs

Shiny Time children are respected as individual and unique beings. They are encouraged to develop independence, to take initiative to express their upset emotions appropriately and to cope with frustrations. By emulating staff’s role modeling, children learn to become affectionate and caring.
